The University of Washington Elections Database (UWED) housed at the Center for the Study of Demography and Ecology at the University of Washington provides a host of public use data and data-driven research products related to the State’s vote-by-mail system.
UWED and related projects are funded through the 2024 WA ESSB 5950. As mandated, UWED was created to provide accurate information about voting and elections in Washington State through several functions:

UWED also provides these data for legislative districts in Washington State, as well as provides contemporaneous maps, descriptions of boundaries, and shapefiles for election districts and precincts. Information about voting center locations and ballot drop box locations also can be requested.
In addition, UWED posts research reports and briefs using rigorous scientific methodologies to examine voters’ experiences with vote-by-mail in Washington State, with specific focus on ballot return modes, ballot timing, signature challenges and cure processes, late ballots, and rejected ballots. Please note that UWED does not post individual-level data or data that could identify individual voters.
